Construction & Sustainability

Engineered for lifelong stability: a multi-ply Baltic-birch core is cross-laminated under 1/6″ of premium European Oak. This structure resists seasonal cupping or gapping—perfect for every U.S. climate zone.

All wood is FSC-controlled and harvested from PEFC-certified forests; finishes are water-borne and formaldehyde-free. By using an engineered platform, Cord delivers the same luxurious oak face while conserving 60 % more raw timber than solid planks.

Installation Guide
  • Methods: Nail, glue-down, or float with an approved underlayment.
  • Grade Levels: Suitable for on-, above-, and below-grade installations (yes, basements).
  • Acclimation: Keep cartons flat and unopened for 48 h in a climate-controlled space (60–80 °F, 30–55 % RH).
  • Radiant Heat: Hydronic systems only; surface temperature must stay below 80 °F / 27 °C. Glue-down with elastomeric adhesive and install temperature sensors.
  • Tools Needed: 18-ga cleats or L-cleats, full-spread MS-polyurethane adhesive, tapping block, racking straps, moisture meter.
Care & Maintenance
  1. Daily: Vacuum with soft-brush head or dry-dust mop.
  2. Weekly: Damp-mop using pH-neutral hardwood cleaner; never steam-clean or use oil soaps.
  3. Spills: Wipe immediately—standing water voids the warranty.
  4. Furniture: Use 1″ felt pads and keep pet nails trimmed to avoid scratches.
  5. Re-coat / Refinish: The wear layer allows up to two professional sand-and-refinish cycles over the floor’s life.
  6. UV fade: All wood changes tone—use window coverings and rotate rugs for even aging.

FAQs

How do I order samples?

Click “Build Your Bundle” (or the sticky button on every page), pick up to 5 full-size planks, and check out just like a normal purchase. We express-ship within 48 hours so you can see the wood in your light before committing.

Do I get my sample cost back?

Yes—every dollar you spend on samples is 100 % credited toward any flooring order placed within 120 days. The credit applies automatically at checkout.

Do I need a pro installer?

Experienced DIYers can float smaller rooms, but nail- and glue-down installs demand specialty tools (18-ga cleats, moisture meters) and professional moisture tests. Hiring a pro protects your warranty.

What are current lead times?

Samples ship in 1-2 business days. Flooring orders leave our Texas warehouse in 5–7 business days; transit is 2–6 business days depending on location. You’ll receive tracking and a call from the carrier to schedule curbside delivery.

What Are Random Lengths in Wood Flooring?

In wood flooring, “random lengths” means the planks in each box come in a variety of sizes — often ranging from 12" to 84". This is common in both solid and engineered floors and helps create a more natural, dynamic appearance when installed.

Why it matters:

  • Mimics traditional craftsmanship — historically, planks were cut to maximize each log.
  • Reduces waste — using more of the tree means better sustainability.
  • Adds depth — varied lengths add movement and character to the final look.
